Shopping and an owl

Last weekend I found some time to shop.... And something I've wanted for years was now not only available but also on sale! Finally I found rainboots with roses, and well within my budget (since they were on sale, they were only 6 euro)!
Afgelopen weekend had ik eventjes tijd om te winkelen... En waar ik al jaren naar op zoek was was nu ook nog eens in de uitverkoop! Eindelijk heb ik regenlaarzen met roosjes, en ruim binnen budget (aangezien het opruiming was, waren ze maar 6 euro)!

And also some thrift store treasures. I love the books of Dan Brown and I wanted to have them myself. And also a book of James Redfield, which I also love.

En wat schatten van de kringloopwinkel. Ik vind de boeken van Dan Brown geweldig en wilde ze toch graag zelf hebben. En een boek van James Redfield, wat ik ook geweldig vind.

To conclude this owl. This is the owl I got for my 'collection'. It's cute but a bit old fashioned, so I decided to give it a make-over.

Tot slot dit uiltje. Dit is het uiltje dat ik kreeg voor mijn 'verzameling'. Hij is schattig maar een beetje oubollig, dus heeft ie een make-over gekregen. 

I like him in white and I think he will look good in my book shelf. However, this was only the first layer of paint, so it's not finished yet.
Ik vind hem leuk in het wit en ik denk dat ie prima in de boekenkast past. Maar dit is pas de 1e laag verf, dus hij is nog niet af.

Plants!!

And it is time again to sew some seeds. I started a counple of weeks ago with peppers, basil, thyme, tomato, Geranium, Impatiens and lettuce. Not everything came up however, but maybe it is too soon to tell... I also planted some spring onions which were left overs from the kitchen.
En het is weer tijd om zaadjes te zaaien. Ik ben een paar weken geleden al begonnen met paprika, basilicum, tijm, tomaat, Geranium, Vlijtig Liesje en sla. Niet alles is opgekomen, maar misschien is het nog te vroeg om iets te zeggen... Ik heb ook wat lente uitjes geplant die over waren van het koken.

See the spoon? I found this on Pinterest and decided to give it a try. However, I don't have letter stamps, so I don't know how to solve that yet ;). For now it's just a spoon from the thrift store in my 'garden'.
Zie je de lepel? Ik vond dit op Pinterest en wilde het graag proberen. Helaas waren de letter stempels die we thuis hebben te klein, dus dat moet ik nog oplossen ;). Voor nu staat er gewoon een lepel van de kringloopwinkel in mijn 'tuintje'.

When I was looking for a spoon, I also found this little deer. Isn't it cute? Couldn't resist ;).

Toen ik op zoek was naar een lepel, kwam ik dit hertje tegen. Schattig toch? kon 'm niet laten staan ;).

A vintage book and a new cup and saucer :). This is moss rose from Royal Albert, cute huh :).
Een oud boek en een nieuw kopje met schoteltje :). Dit is moss rose van Royal Albert, schattig toch?

Thrift store treasures #3

And finally the last part of the thrift store treasures I haven't shown yet.
First of all my Royal Duton tea cups! These are lavender rose and old country roses, lovely, huh?
En eindelijk het laatste deel van de kringloopvondsten die ik nog niet had geshowd.
Allereerst mijn Royal Duton kopjes! Dit zijn Lavender Rose en Old country roses, schattig toch?

Then a lovely doiley, I fell in love with the moment I saw it. I love that it is pure white, which makes it a bit more modern to me.
En dan dit kleedje, zodra ik het zag was ik verkocht. Vooral omdat het echt spierwit is, vind ik het best modern.

And then some founds from a while ago. Dan nog wat vondsten van een tijdje geleden.

It's the most pretty decanter I've ever seen :). And the rack above is very suitable for variation, I've also used it for candles and combinations with (floating) candles and flowers.
Dit is de meest verfijnde karaf die ik tot nu toe tegen ben gekomen :). Het rekje is heel geschikt om mee te varieren, er kunnen (drijf)kaarsjes in en bloemetjes en ook een mix is erg leuk.

I'm also still in love with these two, I think they are ment for holding curtains open.
Ook deze twee vind ik nog steeds geweldig, volgens mij zijn ze bedoeld om gordijnen open te houden.

Then I also found a lovely little table with claws instead of legs, but unfortunately no picture yet...
Tot slot heb ik nog een schattig klein tafeltje gevonden met klauwtjes als pootjes, helaas nog geen foto...

Thrift store treasures #2

As promised some more thrift store treasures! Starting of with the ones I edited to make them more 'me'.
Zoals beloofd nog wat kringloop vondsten! Beginnend met de items die ik een beetje aan mijn smaak heb aangepast :).

First of all the chandelier! I fell in love with it and immediately knew it would look better in white (especially with pink candles).

Om te beginnen de kroonluchter! Zodra ik hem zag vond ik hem geweldig. Maar natuurlijk wel in het wit (met knalroze kaarsen!).

And this is a pillar that someone threw out... It was not looking very cute, but it's very handy if you need something to put a glass on when there is no table. And now it's painted pink, it does look cute :).

En deze pilaar gooide iemand weg... Okee, hij zag er niet erg leuk uit, maar als mini bijzettafeltje is ie wel heel handig! En zo in het roze vind ik hem super :).

And another chandelier! No idea what I should do with two chandeliers, especially not in a students room... But I'm still dreaming about my own 'grown-up' home, hoping it will come true soon! (With room for all the stuff I collected ;)).

En nog een kroonluchter! Geen idee wat ik op een studentenflatje moet met twee kroonluchters...:p. Maar het wordt zo langzamer hand wel tijd voor een echt eigen huisje :) (waar al m'n verzamelde spulletjes mooi tot hun recht komen).

And another object for a candle :). I've always wanted a lantern like this one, but they can be very costly... I paid three euros for it ;).
En nog iets om kaarsen in te zetten :). Ik wilde altijd al een lantaarn als deze, maar meestal zijn ze flink duur... Deze was drie euro ;).

Next time some more finds and I hope an update on my hexagons, but that isn't going very fast at the moment...
Volgende keer de laatste vondsten en ik hoop ook een update van mijn hexagons, maar dat gaat op het moment niet zo snel.

Thrift store treasure #1

As promised, I'm gonna show a thrift store treasure :)... Tada!
Zoals beloofd, hier de eerste kringloop vondst :)... Tada!

Any idea what it is? Well I didn't had an idea either, but my mum told me it's a waffle iron! My dad knows how they work and my mum found a recipe in an old cookbook, soo happy :).

Enig idee wat het is? Ik had ook geen idee, maar mijn moeder gelukkig wel, het is een wafelijzer! Mijn vader weet hoe die werken en mijn moeder vond een recept in een oud kookboek, zooo blij :).

You heat the iron in oil, then dip it into the batter till it sticks (which will only happen when your iron is hot enough). Then you dropp it into the pan carefully(!), after a few seconds it will let go of the iron (remove the iron).

BE CAREFULL!! HOT OIL CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS!!

Je verhit het ijzer in olie en dipt het in het beslag tot dit blijft plakken (dat gebeurt alleen als het ijzer heet genoeg is). Dan doop je het ijzer met beslag voorzichtig(!) in de pan, na een paar seconden laat het beslag los van het ijzer (dan haal je het ijzer weg). 

LET OP!! HETE OLIE KAN HEEL GEVAARLIJK ZIJN!!

And then you can do whatever you want with them :).
En dan kan je er natuurlijk mee doen wat je wil :).

Treasures

Finally it's summer vacation! Still waiting to get the result back from the last exam, but finally time to show my latest treasures :).
Eindelijk is het vakantie! Ik wacht nog op m'n laatste tentamencijfer, maar gelukkig heb ik nu wel weer tijd om mijn nieuwste schatten te laten zien :).

These three tea cups I found at the recycle store, three all at once! And the cute bowl comes out of the cupboard of my mum :). Looks lovely all toghether, doesn't it?

De drie kopjes komen van de kringloopwinkel, toevallig alle drie tegelijk! Het schattige kommetje komt uit mijn moeders servieskast :). Schattig zo samen, toch?

And then these. These cups belonged to the grandmother of my grandmother! My granny gave them to me at my birthday :). I think they go very well with the deep dish I allready had.

En dan deze, deze kopjes zijn van de oma van mijn oma geweest! Toen mijn oma hier op visite was voor mijn verjaardag, had ze ze voor me meegenomen :). Ik vind dat ze prachtig staan bij het diepe bord dat ik al had.

Then some pieces without flowers or golden lining, but also very to my taste :).

Dan  nog wat spulletjes zonder bloemetjes en gouden randjes, maar toch helemaal mijn smaak :).

Also both from the recycle store and both making me feel very happy. Dreaming of long afternoons in the sun under a cherry tree and a glass of wine in the evening when the sun is almost down....

Ook weer allebei van de kringloopwinkel en ik word er nog steeds zo blij van. Dromend van lange middagen in de zon onder een kersenboom en een glas wijn vlak voor zonsondergang...

Pip Studio

As I told in a previous post, I graduated for my Bachelor last year. As a gift from my family I got some money to buy something myself. As I'm in love with the tableware of Pip Studio since the moment I saw it, the choice wasn't very difficult :). Here are some pictures of it, although not al has been photographed yet ;). I like to combine it with other tableware. For instance the cake saucers in the first picture are from a garden centre! I think they match perfectly :). 

Zoals ik in een vorige post al vertelde, ben ik afgelopen jaar afgestudeerd voor mijn Bachelor. Als cadeau van mijn familie kreeg ik wat geld om zelf iets te kopen.  Aangezien ik verliefd werd op het Pip Floral Servies vanaf het moment dat ik het zag, was de keuze niet zo moeilijk :). Hier zijn wat foto's, hoewel niet alles al op de foto staat ;). Ik vind het leuk om het te combineren met ander servies. De gebakschoteltjes in de eerste foto bijvoorbeeld, die heb ik bij een tuincentrum gekocht! Ik vind dat ze perfect passen :).

De borden op deze foto komen van een kringloopwinkel (nee ik ben niet weer geweest, ik had ze gewoon nog niet laten zien ;)).

Then a question to all Pip-fans out there... 
I also have the blue teapot. I ordered this online and in the picture online, the upper halve of the spout was white and the lower part was blue. However when we unpacked mine, the whole spout was blue with dots, two white flowers and the Pip logo on it. I was very surprised about that, because I didn't know that there was more than one version of the blue teapot. I also saw that there is more than one version of the Khaki teapot. I understand that the teapot exists in 3 colors, but now my question: Why are there different versions in the same color????? Can anyone tell me that?

Dan een vraag aan alle Pip-fans...
Ik heb ook de blauwe theepot. Ik heb hem online besteld en op de foto was de bovenste helft van de tuit wit en de onderste helft was blauw. Maar toen we de mijne uitpakten bleek de hele tuit blauw met stipjes, twee witte bloemen en het Pip-logo erop. Ik was erg verbaasd, want ik wist niet dat er meer dan één versie van de blauwe theepot bestond. Ik had wel al eens gezien dat er meer dan een versie van de khaki theepot bestaat. Ik begrijp dat de theepot bestaat in 3 kleuren, maar nu is mijn vraag: Waarom zijn er verschillende versies in dezelfde kleur????? Kan iemand mij dit vertellen?
Hier een paar foto's van mijn theepot, helaas heb ik geen foto's van de andere variaties, maar die zijn te vinden op Google.

It took some time to get used to mine (I don't like surprises), but now I love it. Especially the little white flowers.

Het duurde even om aan de mijne te wennen (ik hou niet van verrassingen), maar nu vind ik hem geweldig. Vooral de kleine witte bloemetjes.

Weekend break

Winter has fallen in Holland. No snow yet, but lots of rain and dreariness. It's time to make it cosy inside, with candles and plaids.

De winter is gearriveerd in Nederland. Het sneeuwt nog niet, maar wel veel regen en somberheid. Het is tijd om het binnen gezellig te maken met kaarsen en plaids.

A heart with inside a tealight, gives a romantic shine. I've had it for years and I still love it.

Dit hart, met binnenin een waxinelichtje geeft zo'n mooi zacht licht. Ik heb het al een aantal jaar en vind het nog steeds geweldig.

 This little rack with 4 glasses is a recycling shop treasure. I don't know how it is supposed to be used, it's also very pretty with some flowers in it. The little books I got from my mum, one has quotes on rest, the other one on comfort. They're sweet to browse through, when not feeling that well.

Dit rekje met vier glaasjes komt van de kringloopwinkel. Ik weet niet waar het oorspronkelijk voor bedoeld is, maar het is ook erg mooi met een paar bloemen erin. De kleine boekjes van Happinez kreeg ik van mijn moeder. De ene heeft quotes over rust, de andere over troost. Ze zijn lief om door te bladeren, als je even niet zo lekker in je vel zit.
